30(Martin Parr’s Best Books of the Decade)」に選出された。
He produces landscape works focused on everyday scenes that include Tokyo’s suburban new towns, the technoscapes of the metropolitan periphery, and elements of pop culture. Centered on Tama New Town, a series photographed during late-night walks through the residential areas where he lives has continued for more than twenty years and has become a long-term lifework.
Since the early days of digital cameras and the internet, he has made digital photography and the continuous presentation of his work on a personal website central to his practice. He also publishes self-produced photobooks and zines on an irregular basis, and participates as an independent circle in events such as Comiket and the Bungaku Flea Market, regarding modes of presentation themselves as part of the production process.
His major photobooks include GOING HOME (Sokyusha), HOME (Sokyusha), and Itasha Z (Enterbrain). In 2008, he received the Shashin no Kai Award. His photobook HOME was selected for Martin Parr’s Best Books of the Decade (Top 30 of the 2000s).
Born in Kagawa Prefecture in 1969. After studying Earth and planetary physics at graduate school, he worked in research and development in the field of electronic devices, and later studied photographic practice at a professional photography school through its evening program.
As of 2026, he teaches courses on digital photography production at Tokyo Zokei University, Musashino Art University, and Japan College of Photography.
